PPR-C: Why It's Chosen for Hot Water and Heating Plumbing

Polypropylene random copolymer: thermal expansion, PN16–PN25 pressure classes, 50-year warranty. Fusion vs mechanical joining.

PPR-C: Why It's Chosen for Hot Water and Heating Plumbing

What is PPR-C?

PPR-C (Polypropylene Random Copolymer Type 3) is the standard material for hot and cold water distribution in modern plumbing. Its random copolymer structure delivers continuous-temperature resistance and a long service life.

VALA PPR-C products are validated batch by batch using international test methods such as ISO 1183, ISO 1133, ISO 527 and ISO 306. Density 0.90 g/cm³, yield stress 850 MPa, Vicat softening 145–150°C — premium raw material specifications.

Pressure Classes (PN)

PN16: cold water distribution. 16 bar nominal pressure, up to 25°C.

PN20: general-purpose hot/cold water. 20 bar at 20°C, 70°C continuous temperature.

PN25: high-pressure hot water and heating systems. Suited for commercial buildings and hotels.

Composite (fiber-reinforced) and aluminum-foiled versions reduce thermal expansion by up to 50% compared to standard PPR — the ideal solution for long horizontal runs and hot water distribution.

Thermal Fusion vs Mechanical Joining

The defining feature of PPR-C is heat-fusion welding. The pipe and fitting ends are heated to 260°C in a fusion welder and then joined — producing a homogeneous, molecularly welded connection.

There is no leakage risk in a properly executed joint, because no mechanical gasket or adhesive is used. PPR-C plumbing made with correct temperature and time parameters is offered with a service life warranty of up to 50 years.

Mechanical connections (tail elbows, hex adapters) are used only at valve, faucet and appliance interfaces — the main run is built entirely with fusion.

50-Year Warranty — How Is It Possible?

VALA PPR-C is manufactured from 100% prime virgin raw material. No recycled content is used. Polypropylene is imported from Korea, the USA and Saudi Arabia.

Because both the raw material and production process are under control, properly installed plumbing maintains its hydrostatic strength for 50 years — matching the lifetime of the building itself.
